A follow-up of approximately 5 weeks to provide care integral to women in the postpartum period, respecting the body's time and promoting functional recovery, comfort and safety.

First care in the hospital, when feasible and indicated.

  • Manual lymphatic drainage to help reduce edema.

  • Application of sterile taping suitable for hospital environments, when indicated.

Home care

Continuity of care at home, with attention to the mother's real routine.

  • Placement of functional taping, when indicated.
  • Abdominal support, tension relief and improved proprioception.
  • Guidelines for safe movement in daily activities.

Taping removal and posture

Resumption of postural adjustment with manual care and practical guidance.

  • Removal of the taping.
  • New manual lymphatic drainage session.
  • Postural awareness for breastfeeding, holding the baby and taking care of everyday life.

Start of exercises

Gradual introduction of light therapeutic exercises.

  • Mobility, breathing and deep muscle activation.
  • Progression respecting healing, energy and body sensation.

Recovery from abdominal diastasis

Specific assessment of the abdominal wall and initiation of re-education.

  • Safe and progressive exercises for muscle recovery.
  • Guidelines for protecting the abdominal wall during daily tasks.

Final care

Continuity of strengthening, posture and prevention of overloads.

  • Final adjustments to the exercises.
  • Prevention of low back and pelvic pain.

Closure and autonomy

General review of the evolution and consolidation of final care.

  • Guidelines for continuity at home.
  • Stimulation of bodily autonomy and gradual return to activities.
Objectives

Recover function without rushing steps.

The program is individualized, humanized and based on experience clinic, respecting the woman's body in a phase of great change.

The objectives include reducing edema and discomfort, assisting in functional recovery, prevent pain and overload, recover body awareness, support the re-education of abdominal diastasis and promote postpartum safety.

For medical referrals

The program can be presented to obstetricians and gynecologists as option of physiotherapeutic support in the postpartum period, without replacing medical monitoring or conduct indicated by the responsible team.
